My artistic exploration revolves around the theme of identity, aiming to convey profound messages through minimalistic expressions that carry a sense of vitality. The journey has been extensive, initially involving self-discovery before truly understanding and representing myself.
Growing up as a young Black man in the 1970s in the United Kingdom posed a unique challenge. Society imposed beliefs and labels, both positive and negative. As a child of Jamaican parents, I found myself straddling the dual identity of being Black and British. My interests spanned diverse genres like Jazz, Funk, Reggae, and Rock. My passion for Art and Design drew inspiration from eclectic sources, ranging from Salvador Dali and the Bauhaus movement to figures like Jesus Christ and Malcolm X.
The amalgamation of these contrasting influences has shaped the body of work you witness today.
