Kg Making Marks is the creative identity of British visual artist Ken Planter, whose work explores the complex layers of identity, expression, and culture. Raised in the UK during the 1970s as the child of Jamaican parents, Ken channels his experiences of being both Black and British into powerful visual narratives that are both personal and universal.

Known for his minimalist yet emotionally rich approach, Kg Making Marks uses expressive gestures—often with charcoal, pastels, and other tactile materials - to “say more with less.” His art is deeply influenced by music genres such as Jazz, Funk, Reggae, and Rock, as well as iconic figures like Salvador Dali, Malcolm X, and Jesus Christ, blending spirituality, activism, and surrealism into a distinct visual language.

From bold pieces like You Are Queen! and Black Girl Magic to evocative explorations of name, place, and presence, Kg Making Marks invites you to engage with art that speaks to the soul.

In addition to original artworks, Kg Marks is a new range of curated, imaginative, high-quality art print ideas designed to please the mind, body, and space - because they touch the spirit inside you. These works are not only visually striking but also emotionally resonant, offering viewers a chance to connect deeply with themes of empowerment, resilience, and beauty.
